Downforce

Downforce is the aerodynamic force pushing a racing car toward the track surface, generated by wings, diffusers, and the underfloor. Increased downforce improves cornering grip and braking stability but adds aerodynamic drag, reducing top speed. Teams adjust downforce levels to suit each circuit — running high downforce at tight tracks like Monaco and lower downforce at high-speed circuits like Monza.
