Slipstream

Slipstreaming (also called drafting) is the technique of following closely behind another car to benefit from the reduced aerodynamic drag in its wake, allowing the following car to reach higher speeds than it could alone. Slipstreaming is most effective on long straights at high-speed circuits and superspeedways. NASCAR oval racing and Indianapolis 500 qualifying are particularly famous for the decisive role drafting plays in lap times and race strategy.
